A true friend is someone you can be with in silence, with nothing to do or say, and still feel at ease...

Once upon a time, in a grand kingdom filled with lush green forests, sparkling lakes, and majestic mountains, two brother bears ruled over the land. They were the best of friends and inseparable. The elder bear, Lion the First, was serious, ambitious, and always striving for perfection. He had a taste for luxury and a keen intellect. However, his moodiness sometimes led him to treat others harshly, regardless of who they were. Despite this, he was the most respected animal in the kingdom. The only one who truly understood him was his brother, Oscar the Second, who was his complete opposite: friendly, always smiling, and greatly valued their friendship. Oscar was incredibly intelligent and good-hearted, often forgiving Lion’s harshness because he knew how much Lion needed and valued him.

One evening, after a particularly tough day, the two friends sat by the river discussing the nature of friendship. Oscar, ever the optimist, said, "Friendship is essential in life. Without it, we are lonely and lack support. It’s hard to face challenges alone without someone who understands and helps."

Lion, with his usual cynical tone, replied, "Nonsense! People can live perfectly well without friends. Sometimes friends are so demanding, they become a burden."

Oscar, shocked, responded, "How can you say that? We've been friends for so long, and now you talk like this?"

Lion retorted, "I am self-sufficient. I can manage alone, and life would go on."

Hurt, Oscar tried to stay composed and asked, "Do you really think your life would be better or more interesting without our friendship?"

Lion answered confidently, "It might not be more interesting, but it wouldn’t change much. I’ve told you, I am self-sufficient."

This was the final blow for Oscar. Feeling deeply wounded, he abruptly left, disappearing into the forest. As he walked under the starry sky, he pondered Lion’s harsh words, wondering if their friendship meant nothing to him. Exhausted, Oscar cried himself to sleep that night.

Meanwhile, Lion, feeling self-satisfied, went home, had tea, and slept peacefully, unaware of the pain he had caused. The next morning, Oscar did not join Lion for their usual breakfast, nor did he visit him. Days turned into weeks, and the only times they saw each other were at official events, where Oscar maintained his cheerful demeanor while Lion continued to display his strength and sternness. However, Lion soon began to feel the void left by Oscar's absence. His harsh treatment of his servants only isolated him further as he repeatedly had to hire new ones. Gradually, Lion began to miss Oscar’s stories and his comforting presence.

One winter, Lion fell seriously ill with pneumonia. The news spread, but no one came to visit the once-feared king. Lying alone in bed, he felt the weight of his loneliness. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Ignoring it, he remained still. The door opened, and Oscar walked in, taking Lion’s hand. For the first time, Lion smiled through his tears, unable to speak, but feeling a profound sense of relief and happiness. He squeezed Oscar’s hand tightly, grateful for his friend’s unwavering loyalty and love.
